Dates for PWP and FNM seasons

There will be no In Development this week as I have been spending time being really sick, and my remaining spare time goes to nursing my sick gal back to health and finishing up some work-related things. To tide you over, and because they can be hard to find, here are the Planeswalker Points (PWP) and Friday Night Magic (FNM) Championship season dates:

2011 Competitive Season #3

Sets your byes for GPs held from December 26, 2011 through April 1, 2012

2012 Competitive Season #1

2012 Competitive Season #2

  1. Is it confirmed which people will get the invites and how many. I know I read somewhere that the FNM champs are the top 100 people with points. I am currently in the top 200(#159) and am curious about this.

  2. Check out this week’s In Development for a refresher on how the various PWP-based qualifications work. For the FNM champs, there are 100 invitations, but they are given out regionally, like so:

North America – the top 48 players get an invite
Europe – the top 31 players get an invite
Asia Pacific – the top 8 players get an invite
Japan – the top 6 players get an invite
Latin America – the top 7 players get an invite

Anyway, it’s all covered in my most recent In Dev, so I won’t repeat the rest of it here.

  3. Has Wizards confirmed that Season #1 will qualify someone for nationals? Are Nationals even being done as an invite only event as per previous years? (I’m from Canada, 2011 nationals invites were the same as the USA method)

    regards,

    Jason
