The Dread Return of Iona
Very randomly I tried out a bit of Vintage today, using the following Dredge list:
Iona Dredge
21 Creatures:
Flame-Kin Zealot
4× Stinkweed Imp
Iona, Shield of Emeria
3× Golgari Thug
4× Golgari Grave-Troll
4× Narcomoeba
4× Ichorid
28 Spells:
3× Dread Return
4× Bridge from Below
4× Leyline of the Void
4× Cabal Therapy
4× Serum Powder
Darkblast
4× Unmask
4× Chalice of the Void
11 Land:
3× Petrified Field
4× Bazaar of Baghdad
4× City of Brass
15 Sideboard:
3× Gemstone Mine
3× Chain of Vapor
2× Contagion
2× Emerald Charm
3× Ancient Grudge
2× Ingot Chewer
I simply hijacked a recent Dredge list from DeckCheck and swapped in Iona for the Angel of Despair slot.
It turns out, Iona is hilarious in this deck, and is basically an auto-win if you can Dread Return her into play (hint: name "blue"). I don't have much more to say than that. Once again, I wish there were more effective reanimation in Standard.
Edit: I auto-lost to a Platinum Angel out of a Tendrils deck and suddenly remembered why Angel of Despair was in the deck. So I yanked the Darkblast and now the deck runs Iona and Despair.
